1ryanb2010If you’re all going to be in the same place, it might be worth checking out Spotify’s new social listening feature if you have it. Sometimes JQBX has trouble with too much traffic (although lately it’s been a bit better).   /r/JQBX1 day, 7 hrs agoComment
2watchsousYou know, this might be the best question that I've ever been asked. So thank you for taking the time to write it out. TL;DR at bottom. The goal is to create something like Twitch or Only Fans but without the pressure of live video but with the same direct tipping function. I want to be able to create content that people can use and reuse that protects people's personal brands so I want it to be highly curated. When I say up to 80% it means that right now we are offering 80% because its just two of us building this thing and right now operating costs are low. That will probably change as we have to hire more people to keep it operational. But the goal is to keep it as high as humanly possible. The vocabulary is my fault and is left over from working in management where we have to say "up to xyz" when doing employee paperwork - kind of HR bullshit. Because it's like Twitch in the subscrib...(more)   /r/Chefit5 days agoComment

5dejohan123I have done similar things, and I might be able to give you some tips: Scraping: Could be interesting to look into social listening tools. Some also do forums. Or if you have a list of forums, you could pay someone to scrape them. Data Analysis: please be aware that once you have the raw data it probably will be huuge. I mean thousands of pages. Also a very large chunk of the data will be useless comments. You will spend a lot of time getting the good stuff, probably data cleaning or text mining solutions, but please be aware that the latter often does not work perfectly and needs a lot of specialised work. Also, law of diminishing returns: More data does not always mean more insights. In these kind of projects you often discover that the first 10% of the data gives you 90% of the insights, and spitting through the rest of the data just returns the same insights repeated ...(more)   /r/MarketingResearch1 wk, 6 days agoComment

16lhdeadeyeAlways begin with the end in mind. There are many trick that exist. Many are free, but take time. Others are quick and effective. But cost money. If your group is all about selling something to them. Make sure you implement the principles of Jab Jab Right hook from Gary V. Its a great starting point. When it comes to how to engage with your audience on a daily basis. Use a technique called "social listening". A great way to start is research your competitors or people who have similar offerings and research how they are communicating to their audiences. Start replicating their techniques so long as it is authentic to your personality and brand. There are very few evergreen strategies that work for all industries. However, usually things like contests are a good way to get something going for a relatively low amount of money. I hope this helps!...(more)   /r/socialmedia1 month, 1 wk agoComment

20desmonthesWe have a custom-built theme in Wordpress that we had a developer build for us and I do a lot of random customization as needed with CSS injection. Our CRM currently is a Wordpress based plug-in called Civi, but we're moving to a new AMS system in about a month called Impexium (cannot wait; Civi doesn't play nice with all servers and its' given me headaches for almost three years). For SEO I'm using Yoast premium, but probably going to switch. This is my weakest area because I didn't really start in web, so I'm about to start a heavy search into alternative plug-ins and best practices. Mass/marketing emails go out through Mailchimp; we have a few audiences maintained in Mailchimp but most pull from our CRM (and will also pull from our AMS). I've custom-coded all our templates and understanding html and styling has been essential here; it's also been a huge pain in the butt because not all email client   /r/PublicRelations1 month, 1 wk agoComment

75skoteinei1. Not really social data is always skewed and it hardly represents the majority opinion. You can, of course, get some sort of insights from it - especially for specific tasks such as customer journey mapping, however, it's important to understand that there's a vast majority of consumers who are mere "listeners and observers" in the social landscape and they don't post anything. There's actually (according to FB) over 50% of them. This is just a reflection of how people behave in reality - some or loud and others are quieter. So basically if use social listening for insights - you're getting those only from the "loud people". 2. The social team focuses on content strategy and trends in the social landscape. 3. I would say naturally - they just discuss the projects which concern them both. However, I'd say that when it comes to setting-up the social strategy and presenting it to the client -...(more)   /r/marketing3 months, 2 wks agoComment

77lickitysplitstyleHa cultists. I love that. Managing a brand is all about community. Running a survey is all now about social listening and aggregation of data from multiple sources sounds a lot like communities to me. Planning a TV campaign, it's all about picking the right market and the right content based on the community and their views - look at any political campaign spending or ad. You're saying it's all bullshit, BUT every one of your examples is based on the idea of appealing to groups and communities. Thanks for chiming in!   /r/marketing3 months, 2 wks agoComment
78zzzazYou can do social listening for a bunch of reasons: - Identify insights into how people talk about / use your brand or product. Often you'll find interesting anecdotes that you don't see in store. I did a project for a big box home improvement company centered around their lighting department. There was a light fixture that was selling lot hot cakes and they had no idea why - I did some social listening and turns out, there was a blog about buying this cheap fixture, spray painting it gold, doing a couple other things to it, and it made it looks like a high end light fixture. $20 with some paint replaced $200+. That went viral (at least within the DIY home community), and drove the demand. That let the brand know why it was happening, and potentially develop merchandising strategies (i.e. stock a higher end fixture) or content strategies (do more DIY / video content in the same vein). Big companies do this al   /r/DigitalMarketing3 months, 3 wks agoComment

86lolomealsMy thoughts, but first: “a follower in Mexico” did not send you that image. That doesn’t translate in Mexican Spanish you doofus Ok, so the Torrid partnership. I actually have some positive insights - and then some suggestions :-) 1. Anthem videos are always going to drop with the influencer support on same day. Most of the industry science around video views is in the first 48 hours of posting. I’m not surprised Torrid had it go out and direct people to the video, nor that it focused on one product - the pant. 2. I’m also not surprised that Torrid blanketed the “curvy market.” Lots of social listening probably pointed to the set of people they used. Smart on them to use someone well known in the video and then have the “girl gang” approach to support. 3. Payment wise the talent in the video + her social support which will prob go out today got the big ...(more)   /r/TrippSnark4 months agoComment
87MieJeppesenActually, some action can not be done by us on social media platforms and if they could be, they take lots of time and are a bit complicated, I'd rather using tools. I mean, why not when they make every thing easier? Monitoring and social media listening tools provide great benefits such as: - Hashtag finder would help you to find new trends. - Use hashtag generator for Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to get more impressions and reach for social network’s posts and content. - See business competitors within your social listening tools -Track hashtags or keywords to find who is talking about those topics. - Listen to what others say on social media -Monitor who is talking about your business by using social media listening tools. But not all of them have such options. the one I use Inosocial, has even more and is not only restricted to monitoring. Automatic Scheduler, Data Analytics   /r/socialmedia4 months agoComment

89TheBlackSpire"Engagement" in social media is data driven and powered by social listening tools. It's different from sentiment, and it's not as simple as making a comment or liking a post. (That's one of the huge differences between social for business and social for personal use.) Engagement, in this case, means taking the action the brand wants you to take. If they're marketing TROS, the goal is to get you to buy tickets and merchandise, visit their website, check out their brand partners, etc. If you respond to behind the scenes photos with "Bring Back Ben Solo," you're not doing any of those actions and the data insights will tell you not to post similar content. If you, instead, say, "those photos look amazing--I miss Ben Solo; I'm going to check out the movie again tonight," it's positive engagement even though the sentiment might have a negative skew. I hope I didn't sound too preachy, but...(more)   /r/adamdriverfans4 months agoComment

97xoticfusionI disagree. Branding has nothing to do with logos. Branding is about positioning yourself. It’s about positioning yourself so well that you figure out your target audience through social listening, see what part of the hero’s journey they are on and then communicate (aka marketing) that to the end user, which is the consumer CONSISTENTLY. It’s offering a unique value proposition. What can your customer do with your $500 logo? How does that help them? Your logo doesn’t help the consumer in anyway, but they sure as hell will spend $500 on a product and service if you happen to get in their head and you can relate to them. While some business owner is spending $500 on a logo instead of getting that into their pocket another business understands this, spends 24 hours and $100 on a logo, calls it a day and then gets $500 because they understand their audience. You want to spend money on a l...(more)   /r/smallbusiness4 months, 1 wk agoComment

100justaskingnatsodds>(this doesn’t really help your case, but) Of course there aren’t 75k active users here. The point is, without the aid of better figures, it’s reasonable to assume subscribers and followers are roughly representative of the size between reddit and twitter wizards communities. Or at least enough to consider a whole degree of magnitude significant. Size doesn't equal impact, its more complicated than that, different audiences, content etc... First, I would advise you to do lots of research - about your niche, local market, competitors (see what they are doing, compare your offer and results). Remember about staying up to date with trends and news in your industry. Try to constantly improve and adjust your offer. I would also recommend you to do social listening, with the help of a social media monitoring tool for example. This technique will help you research your customers' preferences, needs and meet their expectations in the future. social listening can help you find reviews about a company you work for - try to manage your online reputation, respond to all of the customers' opinions and build relationships with them. (Campus Sonar if you want to look us up - we have a blog and a bunch of free resources that could come in handy for you). First, what do you mean when you say "social listening?" Are you trying to analyze what these individuals are saying to/about your university? Or are you conducting social media analysis of your existing audience? Knowing your goal and what story you're trying to tell will give me more information to offer some advice.   /r/DigitalMarketing6 months, 3 wks agoComment

176indieginger13A couple of thoughts from an employer: 1. Google "social listening strategy". Every organization has one. I wouldn't waste your time trying to game the system. CECA has likely already seen this post. 2. Anyone with any critical thinking skills knows that self-reported data is suspect. People can say anything they want. We don't pay much attention to average earnings for that reason. We've set our rates/budget based on talking to our peers about what they pay for similar skill sets and experience. 3. YMMV, but my company only has to much budget to hire co-ops. Everyone is learning to code these days, so why am I going to pay more when the supply/demand balance is shifting in my favour?   /r/uwaterloo8 months agoComment

I picked up a lot of digital marketing skills that I now apply to my private practice. Each day was unique, but I mostly wrote and edited blog posts, managed social media accounts, provided regulatory reviews of all marketing collateral, ran a social listening program, and worked with designers and web developers on a variety of projects. It was fast-paced and a fantastic learning experience! I did end up missing 1-1 pt contact, so I left to work for a functional medicine doctor (plus run his marketing) and to pursue my virtual private practice on a PT basis. My close friend works in R&D which is usually completely separate from marketing. Although I did do some cross-functional work on both ends. But looking at impressions isn't really a performance metric (one could have a promotion skew etc). In terms of use I thought he was meaning audience using the hashtag - in which case, I'd say the best gauge is through social listening. You'd have a total count for each, then plot per day on a timeline and compare the trends. The question is unclear, I have to keep going back to it.   /r/socialmedia11 months, 2 wks agoComment

I work at an agency and we have cross-functional teams comprised of 1 person each for: -PR/branding (overall account management, media pitching, influencer marketing, event planning) -digital marketing (ppc advertising, google ads, youtube ads, ecommerce/amazon, seo), -social media (paid/organic facebook/ig activity) -community management (customer service, outreach and social listening) -creative direction (photogragphy, videography, graphic design, branding)... 272dfgross81I have an agency. We have social media AORs for some large brands. Our retainers are far more than $50k merely because the team needed to support some large brand costs a lot more than that. Let’s take a global auto brand with a North American scope as an example: - program social calendar against business objectives, like model launches and sales events. Also cultural events and topical stuff. We are either cutting global assets are producing our own. We do shoots weekly, logistics are pretty crazy. This alone requires account people, strategists, designers, copywriters, content producers, project managers.. - community management - we have a couple on the team and their job is to work really closely with the brands customer relations team. They respond and engage, though also are on the front line of identifying problems and potential problems. 275nreignSo a couple things here. I wrote my first Instagram bot around 5 years ago. I also have written bots and social management tools for Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube. I also built an influencer marketing exchange that had over 70k users and automated branding plays until I pivoted to go back to growing brands directly. Why... because ROI sucks when influencers have nothing but fake fans and POD users doing all the engagement. As of today I have roughly 6k+ accounts running on my social media software and I would say 50% of those features are centered around automation while the other half is social listening, manual messaging, and content/ insights. 1.) the “buy followers” and likes people on fivver will be gone the second Instagram updates their UI to not show counts. Slated to happen shortly. Literally atleast 90% of signups we get through our self service dashboard are 13 year old kids looking to ...(more)   /r/smallbusiness1 yr agoComment

278BarrelSurfI suggest looking into social listening tools and doing it manually from there. It'll help to pool conversations and users that are in your relevant field and put them in a place where it's easy for you to like and authentically engage with the user. You'll also get people that are actually interested in what you're posting or whatever your business is therefore improving the quality of your followers. Downside to this is that a good tool is rarely free but that's up to you to decide what's worth it. Our business uses a combination of Hootsuite and Brandwatch but these together with the number of business accounts we monitor (in the 40s) puts our cost for the service in the tens of thousands per year but we only pay for it because it improved our user quality and ROI potential by 10 times that amount when we started using it. However, if it is all too much to take, zero in on at least a couple of major platforms where you’ll be more active than others. Then they took a 2 hour break to vent and went back to work. Its borderline Orwellian. The entire point of a walkout is to cause a disruption to business. Leave long enough to cause an impact. When less than 10% of the company participates in a 2 hour break and all the reporting is quoting people with such integral titles as "social listening strategist" its farcical. Sure it's possible to do it, but it is not a "logical" jump in the sense that you'd have to learn a completely new skillset and role. That waiter should probably go to culinary school before they hop into that kitchen and start dictating what the new dishes should be. An art director must have command of the Adobe Programs (photoshop, illustrator, indesign, etc. are what art directors use daily) and firm understanding of design principles, concepting/creative thinking, and strategy, and be able to use these to create. 312ronlucidHi. Are you looking for example case studies as a point of reference? If yes, official blogs of most social listening tools are a goldmine for this these type of projects. I would begin with looking at Netbase, Brandwatch and Crimson Hexagon blogs to get started. The real fun begins once you get a sense of how they're using data to analyze reactions and segment audiences. Using the methodologies listed by them, you can pick a trend or a campaign you're interested in, and try to replicate the analysis using basic Twitter and Reddit search. Note that if you want accuracy, you will have to spend time diving into the data and coming up with insights - but that's what you're signing up for as a social media analyst - so a good taste of the real world. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have specific questions - happy to help.   /r/socialmediaanalytics1 yr, 2 months agoComment
313eRock713Hey! We use Meltwater at my organization, but the social tools are too expensive—we use it primarily for press mentions and measuring share of voice that way. If you need to use keyword-centric social listening, you can go wrong with Tweetdeck, Hootsuite, or something similar. They’re a fraction of the price (which you’re probably aware of), and get the job done just as well in my opinion.   /r/SocialMediaMarketing1 yr, 2 months agoComment

317adownerYes, there are distinct differences in the concepts. Social monitoring is typically the act of listening to your owned channels and interacting on those. For example, responding when someone @mentions your brand on Twitter, or seeing reactions to your brand posts. social listening is much broader and, typically, leverages query logic to look across part of or all of a social channel. For example, depending on your listening vendor, you may get access to the Twitter decahose (10% of the real-time twitter stream), or the Twitter firehose (the entire Twitter stream). You can also run that query across multiple channels to look for conversations that, while not specifically @mentioning your brand, may be talking about it (it may be misspelled, or a topic of conversation may impact your brand). That is listening for new conversations, but there are also tools that can look at historical channel data to look for   /r/DigitalMarketing1 yr, 2 months agoComment

322ivanolo2010There’s a lot of data which can be mined when it comes to finished consumer goods: production, quality control, supply chain, logistics, consumer contacts (complaints, social listening), formulation, market trends, sensory attributes, and the list goes on. This is a long-term process. The company is aligning on a global scale and consolidating business units. PepsiCo is a conglomerate from past acquisitions, and it’s looking to streamline operations. Also, anything that doesn’t directly involve the main business (think IT) will be outsourced to the cheapest bidder. Long-time employees nearing retirement age will be the first to go, along with middle management. The company wants younger, cheaper employees. 345jlmontelloI actually used to work for an ad agency and we actually bought this kind of geolocation data for use in pitches and media buying strategies. Basically, the telecom sells all that data to a service who gets people to 'opt-in' using less than scrupulous means to get the hundreds of thousands or millions of sample they boast access to. I am sure they are having the same meeting we did last year when the Cambridge Analytica incident resulted in multiple social listening tools being booted from access as their own opt-in panels were much of the same less than transparent terms. But this is something to keep in mind that companies ARE selling your personal data to vendors who sell it off to advertisers or anyone else willing to enrich them. 349zablaineDisclaimer: I'm a founder at Naytev Ultimately, the platform you end up using really depends on your needs: * Which networks do you care about? * Do you post organic only? Paid only? Both? * Do you need to schedule automatically, or are you happy selecting timeslots for each post? * Do you have a large content library to search? * What sort of budget can you allocate to social? * How big a priority is social? * Do you need an all-in-one with social listening, reporting, etc (more expensive) or a point solution for publishing only? * Do you need automation, or do you prefer manual control? * Is it just you, or do you have team members? * Are you sharing social handles across teams? Locations? What about ad accounts? This is just a start of the questions you might want to ask, but I'd encourage you to try any of the platform you plan to use and see how your workflow feels in it for a few days. 371Big3ggActivision Blizzard and all companies like them engage in what's called social listening. They use software to scan the internet for mentions of their products as well as monitor the social channels that discuss their content. if they respond it just creates more loose ends that become points of contention so generally they are quiet when issues come up. There CMs have been pretty brutally thrown under the bus so I don't blame them. But they see everything. They choose not to engage. CMs being active in subs isn't a good metric to gague devs reliance or even action as a a result of feedback.   /r/wow1 yr, 5 months agoComment

384Saint-LeibowitzI’m in a similar situation, where people are often surprised at what I tend to listen to. I think music taste does mean something, albeit less directly. The music people choose to listen to can say something about *why* that person listens to music. Purely for enjoyment? Do they like to dance? Do they have a strong emotional connection to lyrics? To melody? To both? Is their preferred music complex or simple? Does it lend itself more to social listening or solo enjoyment? Does it tell a story? Express feelings they relate to? Is it popular or obscure? What feelings does the music elicit? That motivation changes as people change and their circumstances change. Anyone who has cringed at music their teenage self loved can attest to that! Let’s say we have two people going through a hard time. 394Drama79I'm saying if you have a tweetdeck feed open with the search "WWE Saudi" there's thousands of people already doing it. I've only recently learned about "social listening" from a friend who works in the socials dept for a big tech company. It's fascinating. It takes all the humanity out of social media and just reduces it to neat data - but the results are unarguable. And whichever software suite they're using to do it will know before any human about growing trends, they can measure negative and positive sentiment... it's crazy. What WWE choose to do with that info though is the big question. They may just ignore it for all we know.   /r/SquaredCircle1 yr, 7 months agoComment
395Drama79It's the second. WWE's socials team is very on-point. They'll also be doing social listening, so they'll see before we do common terms associated with their brands and stars, so they can react as needed. E.g filter Google trend, that is related to audiences. Then we can build a post with branding touch at the end of this viral post. E.g let say ms A won Olympic swimming. And you help a recreation centre to do promotions. U can post ms A winning photoshoot say. Congratulations to Ms A that makes our Canadian proud. In the years since founding Bookkeeper360, I’ve engaged with many small to medium-sized business clients and observed the mistakes leaders make most often. Fortunately, this day and age is equipped with a swath of accessible, technology-enabled solutions that can help even the least tech-savvy entrepreneur avoid the most common pitfalls. 1. Not Taking Risks Don’t be afraid to take a leap of faith with your business. Take each step slowly, but don’t hold back if the opportunity exists to have a positive outcome. For example, some entrepreneurs forego hiring employees to help grow the company because they're concerned about the additional costs and overhead. Who is your audience? Create a persona, demographics, psychographics, behaviors. 4. Where ? Social Media? Magazines? 5. Focus Groups: Get people that match your persona : data is good but sample size may be too small, depending on how big you do it. 6. Surveys are good to get a large pool of participants but data may be broad, in my opinion 7. social listening: Go on websites, social media, forums and see what your audience is talking about and how you can bring them back to you. These are just a couple of things you could do for market research and the beginning stages of a business.   /r/Entrepreneur1 yr, 10 months agoComment

443manchachomanSo this is a tool I'm familiar with. It's known as "social listening." Really all it does is aggregates public mentions around keywords and phrases you select and it groups themes and sentiment sound those phrases. There's literally hundreds of these types of told and crimson hexagon is one of the pricier ones and isn't even that good. Only thing I can see them MAYBE getting in trouble for is selling those public comments with users names and potential email/phone numbers if they were available since Facebook is all about "protecting" user privacy.   /r/technology1 yr, 10 months agoComment

When you start a tweet with a handle only people who follow that handle will see it in their feed. So something like: Hey @Marvel @MarvelStudios @DisneyPixar @RobertDowneyJr @ChrisEvans @MarkRuffalo @prattprattpratt @TomHolland1996 How many likes on this post to get a friend with terminal ALS spoilers for Avengers 4, or a preview of whats been cut so far, before Jun 30th. 470ohiocitygadflyYou can run up to 3 accounts in Hootsuite for free if you want to give it a shot. However you will need a paid version to do more than schedule 30 posts at a time. I suggest giving it a try. Whatever social media management platform you use, you will still have to log into each account from time to time to swap cover photos, update profile info, etc. You also get more detailed analytics from the individual platforms. Using Hootsuite or another tool helps you see which posts are on deck at any given time. That can be a big time-saver. You can also engage in a little social listening with a geocoded keyword stream in HS.   /r/socialmedia1 yr, 12 months agoComment

It's not as simple as you are describing though with "I'm looking to launch a product or service". That was more in the first two years of my career, but since social media is so commonplace, most businesses had an established presence and were looking to take it to the next level (usually worked with medium to large companies). 474ohiocitygadflyI would do a social media audit of your competitors to see what works/does’t work for them. Then I would engage in some social listening (Brandwatch, Sysomos or SocialRank if you want to focus on Insta) to find out what conversations your fans or gamers in general are having. Then analyze the data from both projects. The audit will help you reverse engineer your competitors’ strategies, and the social listening will help your brand “talk” like one of its followers. Also, keep in mind the Instagram algorithm really values engagement — so quick-response questions pay off for some brands (Kate Spade would give away a handbag in response to masking fans to comment with their fave emoji). You can also use up to 30 hashtags which helps the algorithm place you. If you use an iPhone you can save them all as a shortcut and post them in a comment. So the sources of talking with those people directly, in online groups, via influencers, niche blogs etc I think are much richer sources than the other generalized sources listed above. 520AnnaKomokHi! Aurora is a unique tool on the market. There are some social listening tools that could also show you all brand mentions on Instagram but they don't show how all these posts perform. In Aurora you can: - See the top performing creatives in your market. - Learn what works in influencer marketing and what not, understand key trends, compare performance of every post to the average performance of the blogger. - Track how influencers promote your rivals   /r/InstagramMarketing2 yrs, 2 months agoComment

538PhantomTrouperNot really privacy as in Spotify abusing your data, but more the issue that you can't manage people following you and finding you. Your music sessions only stay private for a limited amount of time. With Deezer I have a toggle that makes me and my music invisible permanently for everyone. Spotify's distinguished feature is the social listening and integration with other apps. That's why I understand they don't want users to become fully private. 548Chizomsk> It's mostly in social media that people learn about something that is not right, and it's social media that's creating an uproar and wanting change. First of all, Change.org's model is built on social media. It considers sharing/ advocacy/etc throughout the process. But what it does, that social media does not, is channel the energy/opinion into something much more quantifiable. "Twitter is abuzz about X" doesn't mean much, especially in the world of bots. Facebook virality is harder to spot, unless you're using social listening tools. "We've had 77,000 signatures telling our local council to lay off the homeless is a much more targeted message, and much more likely to have an effect. 549hey_its_maxWhat they think is that Kushner and Cambridge Analytica provided data to the Russian effort, helping them target specifically where to hit and how. It would be less strange if Russians had targeted whole swing states, but there was a concentrated effort to attack specific counties with just enough voters to turn the tide, using specific messaging. Cambridge Analytica is a sophisticated social listening machine, but they lack the manpower the Russians have for this sort of thing. That said, it's still more difficult to prove the coordination, and it's entirely possible Trump truly didn't understand what they were doing. It's difficult to explain social listening to someone who wants to learn, and Trump certainly seems to resist learning that doesn't validate his ego. Anything that suggest his own charisma wasn't the reason he won isn't going to go over well.   /r/esist2 yrs, 3 months agoComment

552Sherlocked_That's true too. There is value in just knowing it'll blow over. I would also propose, instead of worrying, trying to find what these date correlate with and see if we can predict the next one. If we can then it adds a check mark to the reliable column and we keep going testing. I feel like something (relatively) brand new like crypto is influenced by less variables than something like the stock market, and hopefully easier to find. I just starting looking into this but I'm trying to build something in data studio, just need to find a social listening tool that does what I need it to. 553showershittersSo there are a few key principles to remember with influencers. The first is that no matter who a user on a social platform is, they are more likely to be friends with more popular people. You can read more here: https://www.economist.com/blogs/economist-explains/2013/04/economist-explains-why-friends-more-popular-paradox If money is very tight, you could go through your customers connections on platform and identify the most popular people they follow. You can look at this as a very informal nearest neighbor model, if a customer likes your page and they like this popular page, then there is a chance that other similar potential customers might like that page as well. If you need to be cheap and can program, you should be able to webscrape and run network analysis in R. https://nycdatascience.com/blog/student-works/find-twitter-influencers-through-social-network-analysis/ If money is not a concern, loo   /r/marketing2 yrs, 3 months agoComment

As far as I’m concerned, no link analysis tool identifies new links more quickly than Ahrefs.. But not much more than high numbers and site index. • Open Site Explorer. Here’s the last of the big three link analysis tools. Open Site Explorer (a Moz product) definitely has a much smaller index than Majestic and Ahrefs; • SEMrush. 570TheM3ltdownYes, I understand it. I work in the industry (and have for years). Netflix bought distribution rights. You're comparing apples to oranges. For example, Disney owns ABC and ABC Studios (one of SHIELD's production companies). Hence, it's completely different. They get input because they're part of the same family and are actually involved in production. Marvel definitely gets input from Netflix in the form of viewer data, social listening insights, and etc., but Marvel is running the show and then selling the rights for distribution. Again, Netflix didn't give Marvel money for production. Good grief.   /r/television2 yrs, 4 months agoComment

594onesparrowIt’s an admirable plan, and I’m not saying it won’t work, but it’s got a few problems beyond your control. Twitter is well aware of both the public push to shit down Trump and the dangerous game they’re playing. They’re got a decent social listening team compared to other large social networks. They’ve also had similar pushes from their audiences and responded by purging Nazis, banning people like Stone and Milo, etc. They feel the Trump situation is unique, and in fairness to them, it is. A much stronger approach would be to create a campaign directed at Congress and the WH itself. The power dynamic is much more concrete there, it takes away the bullshit free speech argument, and people there have an immediate interest in not getting nuked as opposed to an abstract one. Plus you already have vocal allies in the political critters who have been calling for Trump to sto...(more)   /r/esist2 yrs, 4 months agoComment

598EliasArosemenaHi! Thanks for the feedback. 1. You have to be very accurate with your targeting when making your ad so it will reach them. You need to break down the buyer persona (tech editors) you want to target. Also, be very creative and compelling when crafting the copy so they will click on your ad. 2. Using tools like Mention or Brand24 for social listening and monitoring when your competitors are mentioned. 3. So far I've only used AppAnnie and Mobile Action. There's another one called Keyword Tool that is very affordable.   /r/startups2 yrs, 5 months agoComment
599whitecompassI strongly strongly steer them away from using social sentiment as input for product innovation. Qualitative social listening can be great for hypothesis building, but there are much better ways to conduct research quantitatively, especially for concept testing and refinement.   /r/dataisbeautiful2 yrs, 5 months agoComment
600dalco>What is your criteria for accuracy? That depends on the subject matter. I will say, B2C products, you are going to get much closer with their standard rulesets. (McDonalds sentiment, for example, is going to get pretty close). But anytime you stray into areas like infrastructure, local government, or B2B tech, you are going to need to spend a few hours custom writing rulesets and cleaning data. I've used Brandwatch, Crimson Hexagon, Nuvi, and Visible at length. I've demoed nearly every other large social listening tool in the sector. In my experience, all of them ranged between 25% - 40% sentiment incorrectly classified.   /r/dataisbeautiful2 yrs, 5 months agoComment
601dalcoUsing social listening software? I'm not sure on the exact number. A lot of sports teams have trouble implementing it because they struggle with getting actionable data through it. It's necessarily not useful for a football team to know that 2 million twitter authors are pissed they lost a game. So you have to get an analyst that knows how to get the right data out of the platform, and a marketing department that knows exactly what kind of questions to ask.   /r/dataisbeautiful2 yrs, 5 months agoComment

608IpecacNeatWhat's hypocritical about it? Sprinklr is a social listening tool that brands use to gauge interest and trends across social platforms. I'm in advertising and have used them before. There is no private information that they're gathering, it's all analyzing conversations you post publicly. Like it or not, Reddit is a company. They need to monetize in order to stay in business to provide you a service for no extra cost to you. Even if Reddit was supporting NN for completely selfish business reasons, who gives a shit? 631FishTheYour post is vague. "social listening" and "Network data anlaysis" are broad, yet you ask for the BEST way and for people to give it to you STRAIGHT. Forgive me if I'm coming across crass. If gaming is your audience, what subest of that audience fits your ideal "customer" profile? Do you want people to buy something? If you just want to drive gamers, and people who like to view gaming, pay some twitch streamers to give you reach. Of course I know Facebook ads are only a sliver of the overall picture. Which is why I don't understand what you're trying to do. Building EVERYTHING from scratch with a small team sounds like a daunting task. Especially considering the size and scope of platforms like Facebook, Google, and other companies that have built fortunes developing digital methods to gain "reach."   /r/datascience2 yrs, 6 months agoComment

635zanglangOh you have no idea. There's a new social marketing term called "social listening". Essentially, companies recently learnt that they can now make impactful business decisions simply by scraping social networks for data. All those comments made by consumers who just wanted to vent their thoughts about a particular product, or a marketing campaign they just saw on TV, etc... all unfiltered thoughts. If random John Doe tweets about disliking the taste of a diet soda, there's a very good chance that their marketing team will see it. My job involves a lot of social listening - essentially using software to track posts on social media. After the campaign took off, a coworker decided that she would use some free time to monitor that hashtag for a day. The results were insane - even after filtering out retweets and non-US and nonenglish content, there were over 200,000 unique posts on twitter talking about sexual assaults that people experienced, and contrary to most things on the internet, the userbase for that hashtag was overwhelmingly female. We didn't monitor past 24 hours, but it was still incredibly sobering to see just how large scale the issue still is today, especially since the groups of people most likely to experience this stuff generally isn't even on twitter So thank you for sharing. 643lowcountrymanOk? What I'm trying to do is offer tactics that work, but for them to work, the marketer has to put in some effort. By saying, oh these resources say to add 11 hashtags, or as many as possible or whatever the case... is not going to help those that are looking to grow. Not a fan of crossing my fingers and hope for the best moves. Listen, I'm just passionate about the subject and want people to win big. 5 hashtags can be a lot more effective and will certainly look cleaner if used correctly. This can be done in three ways: Analyzing owned followers, earned followers or 3rd party audiences. 3. 679TonyzToneThat's true. social listening methods are much more established with text and Facebook and Twitter have that advantage. The thing is that Snapchat has some serious user numbers. Not just in new users but in returning users. I wouldn't be surprised if Snapchat gets more use from its average user than Facebook's basic platform does. Facebook is just integrated into almost every app and website so even without using it, you're still using it. What this means is that the quiet parts of a track have had their loudness increased to match the louder parts of the same track. In the process of this loudness boost, the dynamics of the original track are lost which results in a more fatiguing and lower quality file. 686pratimaad15 Questions Every Start-Up Should Answer When Creating Their Branding Strategy What is the purpose of your brand in today’s society? Try to define a clear brand purpose for your new start-up. Why did you start this business in the first place except for selling a product or service? Will this purpose be welcomed by your consumers? What does your start-up stand for? What part of today’s society can the start-up improve? Try to search for something bigger than functional solutions. The purpose should be meaningful, emotional and bring people together. What are your capabilities?
What are the strengths of your business? Is it a technical experience? A very qualified work force? A perfect customer service? A totally new and innovative product? People are screaming out what they want, or what they are doing on twitter for example.. all you have to do is know what to listen for, and you can generate / sell leads or sell products.. so here's a cute example Build a tool to genearte / sell leads for taxi company - your bot listens to twitter for tweets 'just landed at < airport>' or 'landing at < airportcode>' - and you bot [for taxi company] tweets 'welcome to < city>,.. - no sales pitch. who are they gonna call when they need a cab? some taxi company, or the cool taxi driver that welcomed them to < wherever> sell leads to company bidding on taxi + city, taxi + airport etc. your CPA will smash theirs.. = profit for you. + you can automate the shit out of it. creativity + code + SMART automation = ...(more)   /r/marketing2 yrs, 10 months agoComment

689cranelotusOh no for sure dude, I mean pop is just shorthand for whatever's popular at the time right? I mean Beethoven was considered pop in his day. Actually, I think what I just said is reductive. I think that pop music as a genre focuses music down to catchy, relatable melodies and social listening experiences. But what is considered "pop" in the context as we know it changes over time, it would be incongruous to put The Beatles and Drake in the same musical bracket, right? I dunno what my point is, haha. Just elaborating that I agree with you, but I also think the term "pop" is more loaded than we think it is.   /r/AskReddit2 yrs, 10 months agoComment

Extracting data from the Facebook + Twitter APIs [and storing it ] is a cinch here's some guides i wrote which might be of use to you guys 1. creating a twitter app [to get authorization for Twitter API] https://marketinghacker.blog/blog/guide-creating-a-twitter-app-for-marketers/ 2. extracting data from Twitter [social listening] => https://marketinghacker.blog/blog/building-an-automated-social-competition-lead-generation-tool-for-twitter-case-study-code/ then of course once you have the data, you can save to database/csv/email it to yourself, or whatever. the alternative of course is to use an off the shelf tool like Nodexl Pro http://www.smrfoundation.org/nodexl/ which is an excel extension with importers for Twitter, Facebook + more, and enabling you to save (and analyze) the data easily. 695HoyarugbyA bit of data to be cautiously optimistic about: I work for a company that does social listening. During some downtime this morning, I set up an analysis of social media posts about each candidate. In raw volume Ossof is blowing Handel out of the water, 68% to 32%, and Ossoff has more positive and less negative sentiment than Handel. In terms of engagement (retweets, like she, etc) Ossoff is beating Handel 60%-40%. Take these numbers with a huge grain of salt, but my company also analyzed the Presidential election and found that Trump had a significant lead in social media enthusiasm   /r/politics2 yrs, 11 months agoComment
696bullseyed723The people doing that typically don't need to "read" the site in question. Microsoft social listening scans various social networks and creates tickets in Dynamics CRM (now D365) based on keywords and tone analysis. Check this out, they even use Xbox as their example: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customer-engagement/social-engagement/media/analytics-conversation-view-social-engagement.jpg   /r/xboxone2 yrs, 11 months agoComment
697garrynskHey, guys! I'm building a pet-project for social listening. For those who don't know what it is: it is when you can search any keyword over social networks, blogs, web pages, etc. I want to open it in the future, so can you tell me, which platforms do you want to see there. Also, I want to include a search over chats (didn't think about that much): Slack, Intercom, a Facebook messenger. What are your suggestions? P.S.: the difference from current platforms is in deep learning technology. Now competitors use NLP and machine learning, which produce a lot of nonrelevant results.   /r/startups2 yrs, 11 months agoComment

708NanaWasSoCoolThis is one of those topics that can go either way. (There may be some geek speak sprinkled below) Personally.. I would have a strategy in place.. as well as requirements of the account holder.. X posts during Y days with the item being the focus.. Z hashtags devoted to the brand, the shop name..etc..etc.. (will they post it on their other social media pages like Facebook as well? ) Matching 'ambassadors' with products.. to those with a 'relevant' audience .. and relevant audience that actually BUYS is the golden ticket for one side of the equation.. then Weigh that against the cost of the item, including your TIME to make the product Bathing suits were mentioned: Using that as an example.. How many followers are just gawking at bits and butts vs the target audience who would want to wear that same item? How many are just reciprocal followers? How many are bogus, purchased followers   /r/Etsy2 yrs, 11 months agoComment

713MunkythemonkeyI think a lot of us have been there and done that. My advice is to plan your time carefully and use tools to help your job. Don't take things a day at a time; plan ahead by managing your schedule on a weekly basis. For example, devote a few hours on Monday to plan content for the following week. Do it all in one shot so you don't have to switch gears from community management to content creation so often. Have specific times every day when you would handle community management - don't do it ad-hoc or you'll overdo it and burn out. Are you using a scheduling tool like Buffer? Try it. Cross post content across different platforms to maximize efficiency. Use a social listening tool like Digimind to keep track of your community. That keeps everything in the one window so you won't need to alt-tab as much. Most of all, pace yourself. You can't be everywhere at every time. Set your schedule and stick to it   /r/socialmedia2 yrs, 12 months agoComment
714marketinghack3rIMO - they rely on tools and services which don't offer the granular level of flexibility afforded by other options - which are essential for granualr level control in marketing. - they have no coding ability - = they forsake the power afforded by being able to harness the power of APIs in social marketing for everything from sentiment analysis + social listening to competitor analysis + campaign analysis. - they dont grasp the science behind basic social marketing - graph theory, graph measures of influence.- - they think there's a tool for everything. - they have no ability to create a meaningful SEO audit, social media auti, brand audit, competitor analysis. - their own website fails every manual and automatic tool test to see if it complies with even basic web standards.. the list is endless.. on the internet, everyone's an expert.   /r/GrowthHacking3 yrs agoComment

721ineedajobfastHeh man your not doing too bad but one thing that became incredibly apparent to me , your barely posting your music. A music artist trying to promote sound visually on Instagram ? That's like a visual artist ( picasso ) trying to sell his pictures on the radio. I would definitely make sure at least three posts a week have some music. It doesn't have to be the whole song , you can do a 30 second cut of a song and different songs intermingled throughout the week so a handful of cuts will last an entire month. If you're feeling burnout you definitely need to get a schedule and it might as well be an auto poster. Go sign up for dlvr.it (deliver it) and start getting your entire months worth of social media scheduled in one day. That means outside of special posts you'll spend 12 days a year to have consistent posting 365 times in one year. You'll be able to schedule your posts to all your platf   /r/socialmedia3 yrs agoComment

Tracking Tips

Partials: By default "partials" are enabled. This means that, for example, if you create a tracker for toys - posts about toystory will be saved. If you disable partials then only the specific word toys will be tracked.

Spaces: Allowing partials? Spaces in your tracker can be quite useful. Use them to help you track a specific prefix/suffix.

Ex: If you track "hate", words like "whatever" will count as a result. Adding a space before it like so " hate" would only pick up things containing "hate", "hateful" & "hated"

You do not need to wrap phrases in quotes!

*deleting a tracker will also remove all archived results and statistics that the tracker produced
